Laura Griffith​

 

Laura Griffith is portrait and landscape painter, working from her home

studio in the town of Cowaramup (Wadandi Boodja) in the south west

region of Western Australia. Laura has a Bachelors degree in Fine Art

from Curtin University, graduating in 2003, and has been a finalist and

prize winner in several local art awards.

 

Laura has been exhibiting regularly over the last five years after a long

hiatus where she was working administration jobs and then raising her

young daughter, who now at school age, has allowed her the time to

return to her art practice.

 

Laura explores themes of emotional connection to the landscape and to

our shared human experiences. She is a contemporary realist who uses

colour and light to evoke an intentional mood and emotional reaction in

the viewer. She often paints herself and her daughter to portray an

authentic connection to a memory or emotion she is depicting in her

work, using predominantly oil paint on canvas.
